Job Description Summary:
The School of Nursing at the University of Kansas Medical Center seeks part-time nursing educators to join our faculty, staff, and students. Adjunct Clinical Instructors are responsible for teaching and evaluating students in the clinical environment. This position is for the Kansas City campus and reports to the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs and Department Chair. The position of Adjunct Instructor is considered a temporary position for the term of the contract.
Job Description:
Job Duties
Provide timely, well-constructed feedback for direct patient care and clinical assignments.
Guide students in various clinical care areas, including hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare settings.
Collaborate with department faculty to ensure alignment with program objectives.
Foster critical thinking, analytical skills, communication, and problem-solving among students.
Collaborate with nursing faculty to prepare for clinical, lab, and simulation instruction.
Create a clinical learning environment conducive to effective learning within resource limits.
Enforce appropriate policies and expectations for students in compliance with KUMC policies.
Utilize technology tools effectively, including learning management systems, e-mail, and office software.
Evaluate student progress using established methods.
Maintain accurate records as required by administrative guidelines and legal standards.
Attend all required orientations.
Attend all clinical and lab classes.

Education: Master's degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing.

Work Experience:
Experience teaching in a nursing program, with a least one (1) course taught.
Two (2) years of relevant patient experience.
Experience precepting and/or mentoring nurses.
