Position Details Position Information Position Title: Adjunct Instructor - Professional RN-to-BSN Nursing Program

FLSA Exempt Contract Length: NA Class Summary: Nursing adjunct position for the didactic setting and/or clinical rotations teaching post-licensure baccalaureate nursing students.

Position Type Adjunct Employment Status: Part Time Position Funding: Regular Minimum Education/Training Experience:

  • Masters Degree in Nursing with Texas Licensure
  • Three (3) years of recent relevant clinical practice experience in a relevant setting.
  • Consistent active work experience within the past three (3) years in the nursing field required.
  • One-year online teaching experience in higher education demonstrating knowledge, skills, and abilities in administration within a professional nursing education program.

Preferred Education/Training Experience:

  • Strongly preferred: • Have an earned doctoral degree in the field of nursing or nursing education (PhD, EdD, DNP, DNE, etc.). • Have a minimum of two (2) years teaching experience in a professional nursing education program.

  • Online teaching experience in higher education
  • Principles and practices of teaching
  • Training techniques
  • Detailed knowledge of material being taught in the specific course and program area
  • Knowledge of student engagement techniques
  • Record keeping procedures
  • Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with students, coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction
  • Ability to conduct formal classes in all nursing subject areas in an online setting
  • Ensure timely, clear, and professional communication across multiple stakeholders including students, faculty, college departments, clinical partners, and accrediting agencies
  • Current evidence-based knowledge in nursing practice
  • Ability to integrate real-world experience into teaching
  • Adapts teaching methods for diverse learners including non-traditional students
  • Dependable, punctual, and accountable
  • Empathy toward students, colleagues, and patients
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback with kindness
  • Open and approachable for students
  • Organized with strong attention to detail

Job Duties:

  • Comply with COM and Nursing Department Policies and Procedures to ensure a positive learning environment for student instruction
  • Responsible for providing instruction within the RN-BSN program
  • Provide scheduled office hours for student consultation
  • Participate in student orientation and adjunct orientation
  • Prepare online learning platform for courses
  • Timely grading of assignments
  • Models ethical, compassionate, and culturally competent care
  • Upholds academic and clinical standards
  • Serves as a role model and mentor for students
  • Advocates for student success and academic integrity
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing

Licensing/Certification Requirements:

  • Current and Unencumbered Texas RN or Texas multistate licensure
  • Clear Drug Screen
  • Clear Background check
  • Proof of immunizations and clinical readiness documentation

Physical Requirements:

  • High physical demand
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, lift, and assist in patient care/clinical teaching situations or demonstrate ability to perform tasks successfully
  • Possible exposure to communicable diseases through patient care/clinical experience
  • Must be able to work evenings and/or nights and/or weekends when assigned
