Job Title Adjunct Instructor Pool - Academic Success Experience (Internal only) Position Summary
Designs and delivers instruction in the Academic Success Experience (ASE) program. Participates in all department, various schools, and University-wide tasks and activities.
- Current full-time Texas Wesleyan University employee.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare and present lessons based on the department rubrics for assignments while following the department syllabus for the designated course.
- Adheres to the faculty handbook and faculty guide.
- Manage classroom behavior and address student needs as required.
- Provide opportunities for meeting times for students, adhere to the established class schedule and hold required office hours.
- Maintain a good relationship with students and other ASE faculty.
- Submit contracts, book requests (if needed), syllabi, grades, evaluations, and other required paperwork and reports by due date
- Other duties as assigned by the Dean of Freshman Success.
Education, Certifications and/or Licenses
- Master's degree preferred.
- Bachelor's degree required with appropriate justification as determined by the University if candidate does not have Master's.
Experience
- Prior teaching experience at the college or university level preferred.
- Experience working with a diverse group of students.
- Current full-time Texas Wesleyan University employee.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge in time management and organizational strategies.
- Knowledge in college-level textbook-reading and note-taking strategies.
- Knowledge in college campus resources.
- Knowledge in different earning styles.
- Knowledge in test-taking approaches and preparation strategies.
- Ability to work effectively with other University personnel.
- Ability to provide service to both the University and the community.
- Ability to comply with rules, standards, regulations, FERPA laws, and laws related to student records.
- Ability to adhere to university and departmental policies and procedures.
- Ability to use discretion in handling confidential and sensitive matters.
