Winthrop University's College of Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA) seeks qualified applicants to be considered for a hiring pool of online Adjunct Instructors and Capstone Advisors in the Master of Arts in Arts Administration (MAAA) program.

The MAAA program is a 100% online graduate program serving working professionals, emerging arts leaders, and individuals preparing for leadership roles in arts and cultural organizations. The program includes coursework in areas such as arts administration, leadership and management, marketing, financial management, fundraising and development, community engagement, cultural policy and advocacy, arts law, sustainability, research, and capstone development.

A hiring pool means that qualified applicants may be reviewed and approved for possible future teaching, advising, or instructional support opportunities as program needs arise. Placement in the pool does not guarantee a course assignment, advising assignment, or specific semester of employment. Adjunct teaching and capstone advising opportunities are based on program needs, enrollment, subject-matter fit, and University approval processes.

About the Master of Arts in Arts Administration Program

Winthrop University's Master of Arts in Arts Administration is a fully online graduate program designed for students who want to build practical, ethical, and sustainable leadership skills for work in arts and cultural organizations. The program emphasizes applied learning, professional relevance, and connections between theory and practice. Students complete coursework across major areas of arts administration and conclude the program with a capstone experience that allows them to investigate a significant issue, challenge, or opportunity in the field.

Position Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include:

• Teaching assigned graduate course(s) online using the University's learning management system, Blackboard
• Designing, updating, and facilitating high-quality online learning experiences, including weekly modules, discussions, feedback, assessments, and video lectures
• Providing timely communication, grading, and student support
• Aligning course outcomes, activities, and assessments with program expectations
• Collaborating with the Program Director on course planning, consistency, student support, and continuous improvement
• Maintaining appropriate academic documentation, including syllabi, grade records, and assessment artifacts
• Serving as a Capstone Advisor for graduate students completing applied research or professional projects in arts administration
• Providing feedback on capstone proposals, research development, literature reviews, project design, drafts, and final products
• Supporting students as they connect research, professional practice, and arts administration leadership

Position Availability 01/01/2026 Required Qualifications

Adjunct faculty teaching graduate courses at Winthrop University must have a master's degree or higher in the teaching discipline or a closely related discipline. A terminal degree, such as an MFA, Ph.D., Ed.D., D.M.A., J.D., M.B.A., or other relevant terminal credential, is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include:

• Professional experience in arts administration, nonprofit arts leadership, cultural organizations, higher education, or a related field
• Experience teaching, training, mentoring, or advising adult learners
• Experience with online teaching or online learning environments
• Familiarity with Blackboard or another learning management system
• Ability to provide clear, timely, and constructive feedback to graduate students
• Experience supporting applied research, capstone projects, professional writing, or project-based learning

Employment Conditions

Position is part-time, non-tenure-track, adjunct.
