Advertising Summary: The Department of Health Administration is recruiting adjunct faculty to teach HADM 694: Practicum in Health Administration in the fall semester. This course is delivered remotely and examines contemporary problems and issues in the organization, administration, and evaluation of health services. Focuses on the application of alternative approaches to administrative problem-solving. Emphasizes internal and external stakeholder interests and factors that influence decision-making in health care organizations.

Department Summary: The Department of Health Administration welcomes you! The VCU Department of Health Administration is a premier research department geared toward creating the most innovative, compassionate, and business-savvy leaders to reimagine healthcare. We have access to the amenities of a large institution with a small and student-centric atmosphere. We teach our students both the executive and technical skills needed to be well-rounded leaders. We offer a Master of Health Administration, a Master of Science in Health Administration, a PhD in Health Services Organization & Research, and several graduate certificates.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and deliver course lectures in person and online, as needed.

  • Develop course materials, including the syllabus, lectures, assignments, and assessments.

  • Assign and grade coursework, homework, projects, and exams in a timely manner.

  • Hold office hours and respond to students'' questions and concerns.

  • Use Canvas to manage course materials, assignments, grades, and communication.

  • Maintain accurate student records and adhere to university policies.

  • Communicate effectively with students and the department.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in education and curriculum development, health administration, or closely related disciplines.

  • Teaching experience.

  • Experience with Canvas or other learning management systems.

  • 7+ years of work experience in health administration education at a CAHME accredited graduate level program.

  • Career and Leadership Coaching Certification.

  • Experience in providing career coaching to graduate healthcare administration students.

  • Experience in healthcare administration student residency and fellowship placement, career services, and career preparation.

  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as an adjunct faculty member at VCU.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated excellence in health administration residency placement, student career preparation, and coaching healthcare leadership early careerists.

Salary Range: $8,134.98/3 Credit Course
