    Job Description

    The School of Professional and Continuing Education (SPCE) at the University of La Verne invites applications for adjunct instructor positions. We seek faculty colleagues to join our WASC-accredited programs. Positions are available both online and ground. We appreciate and encourage applicants with diverse backgrounds and professional experiences in culturally diverse urban/suburban settings to inquire and apply.

    There are a number of adjunct teaching opportunities across multiple programs. Courses are taught in multiple formats: 100% Ground at multiple locations across southern California; Hybrid; synchronous online, and 100% asynchronously. Courses are deployed in 8-week terms. The position of adjunct includes (but is not limited to):

    • Online and/or in classroom Instruction
    • Course Development using the online platform, currently D2L Brightspace
    • Engagement in scheduled faculty meetings and participation in other program-related training and activities throughout the academic year.

    Note: Some teaching opportunities are through military bases. These course assignments are only available to those who are cleared (or can be cleared) through the Department of Defense for military base access. If you are already cleared due to active duty or veteran (military affiliation) status, please indicated that in your cover letter and resume.

    Required Qualifications

    1. Earned master's degree in a discipline directly related to one of the SPCE associated programs or courses.

    2. A minimum of five years of successful experience in practice related to the discipline you would like to teach.

    3. A commitment to and experience working with diverse student populations and communities.

    4. Working knowledge and expertise in bachelors and/or Master's level program competencies.

    Preferred Qualifications

    1. Substantial doctoral-level coursework or earned doctorate in related field.

    2. Previous teaching experience, professional-level presentation skills, and/or supervisory experience.

    3. Familiarity with educational technology and learning management systems.
