Xavier University is seeking a qualified candidate to join our team of adjunct faculty in the Master of Science in Water Utilities Management program for the 2027-2028 academic year.

We are seeking applications for a part-time, non-tenure-track, remote Adjunct faculty position teaching online in the Water Utilities Management graduate program. All courses are fully online and asynchronous. The current opening is below:

• WMGT 620 Capital Planning and Asset Management (2 CH)
  • This course serves as a culminating experience that integrates utility finance, rate setting, and operational fundamentals into long-term capital planning and asset management decisions. Students learn to evaluate infrastructure condition, risk, and lifecycle costs to prioritize investments and develop defensible capital improvement plans (CIPs). Emphasis is placed on aligning capital planning with financial capacity, rate impacts, regulatory requirements, and service level goals. Through applied cases and scenario analysis, students synthesize technical, financial, and policy considerations to support sustainable, long-term utility decision-making. Prerequisites: WMGT 570 Finance Fundamentals, WMGT 610 Rate Setting and Utility Finance
  • Course Build: Begins January 2027, Course Launch: August 2027

Candidates must be dedicated to graduate teaching and demonstrate excellence in their relevant field. The successful candidate will contribute to our commitment to excellence in teaching and student engagement.

Applications will be accepted on a continuous basis until the position is filled. Adjunct faculty contracts are issued on a semester-by-semester basis, depending on program needs and student enrollment.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Required: A master's degree or beyond in the discipline in which the instructor is teaching and exceptional tested experience that has been validated through publication or public recognition. Examples of tested experience may include 5 years of experience in the given subject matter plus at least one of the following:
  • professional publications in a field related to the subject matter
  • recognition of achievement in a field related to the subject matter
  • professional credentials earned in a field related to the subject matter
  • other significant contributions in a field related to the subject matter (i.e., evidence of “tested experience”) relevant to the graduate coursework being taught.

Duties include:

• Complete Xavier’s 6-week Introduction to Online Course Design course (begins January, 2027).
• Lead a 7-week MS in Water Utilities Management online course which includes
  • Timely response to student emails, hosting virtual calls with students
  • Communicating with students throughout coursework
  • Interacting with students in discussion boards and on assignments
  • Grading assignments in a timely manner

Compensation:

• $1,000 per course credit hour for training and course development
• $2,000 per course credit hour for course instruction
