- Adjunct Faculty, Industrial Controls and Instrumentation Technology

Summary: Credit part-time, adjunct faculty teaching positions in the Electromechanical Instrumentation program. Work with the Associate Dean, Automotive, Industry and Manufacturing, and the Program Manager of Electromechanical Technology, College staff, and adjunct faculty to instruct Electromechanical and Instrumentation Process Control technologies courses on campus as needed.
Technical Skills for Electromechanical Instructors (dependent on courses taught):
- Experience reading and understanding Process and Automation Diagrams (P&ID) and technical drawings and specifications as they relate to industry.
- Knowledge of the operation, diagnostics, repair, and modification of automation, with an emphasis on components, systems, and assemblies used in conveyors, instrumentation, and PLCs.
- Knowledge of the operation and application of commonly used automated technology and instrumentation
- Experience with the proper use of common tools and measuring gauges in automated systems.
- Knowledge of electrical concepts and controls for industrial applications, including industrial control devices, sensors, relays, and electromechanical controls.
- Experience in industrial control systems covering Allen-Bradley (PLCs) and programmable automation controllers (PACs) operation, application, programming, and troubleshooting. PLC/PAC hardware identification, input/output (I/O), network communications, I/O wiring, I/O and internal addressing, tags, alias tags, and data types. Software instruction sets include contacts, coils, timers, counters, data manipulation, comparison, and arithmetic, as well as program control using subroutines and controller organization.
- Knowledge of process control instrumentation, including temperature and pressure instruments and sensors, basic transmission signals and communications.
- Experience with level and flow measurements and instruments, final elements such as valves, and automatic and manual control and instrumentation applications is required.
- Experience in industrial robotics, Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), and Siemens programmable logic controllers is a plus.
- Instructors will teach processes and safety as needed for each class.
- Responsibilities also include lab safety, cleanup, and material preparation.
Schedule: A typical course is 2 to 3 hours per class, with 2 classes per week for 14 weeks. In-person day and evening teaching opportunities are available only at the Bethlehem, PA, campus.
Qualifications: Three (3) years of industry experience required. Teaching or training experience preferred. Some formal education or training is strongly desired. College teaching experience preferred.
