    Position Summary

    Adjunct Faculty Pool (part-time)-College Success (PTF2606)

    THIS POSITION IS ONLY AVAILABLE TO COMMUNITY PARTNERS OF PIERCE COLLEGE

    Applications are being accepted to create a pool of qualified applicants for possible future part-time teaching positions within the Pierce College District (Washington State)

    Applications will remain on file for 1 year.

    Lecture rate is generally $1,221,95 per credit hour.

    Essential Functions

    • Teach course(s) as assigned.
    • Use common curriculum provided by College Success department.
    • Conduct assigned classes in a manner that promotes student success and incorporates various teaching styles and technology.
    • Be available to students before and after class either in-person or virtually.
    • Work effectively with colleagues and students of various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
    • Be a point of connection between Pierce College students and their community organization.

    Qualifications

    THIS POSITION IS ONLY AVAILABLE TO COMMUNITY PARTNERS OF PIERCE COLLEGE (volunteers, and board members)

    Required:

    • Masters degree from an accredited institution.
    • Affiliation with a community partner of Pierce College (for example: board member, or volunteer.)

    Preferred:

    • Ability to speak in front of and facilitate groups of up to 35

    Note: Successful applicants must complete a College Success summer training program. The program includes a one-day, in-person, paid training that introduces instructors to Pierce College, the College Success department, mission, staff, curriculum, and pedagogical training.

    Conditions of Employment:

    • Successful applicants must complete a College Success summer training program

    A part time faculty member becomes eligible for healthcare and retirement benefits at the beginning of the second consecutive quarter of half-time or more employment at one or more Washington state institutions of higher education. Half time is determined based on each institutions definition of full time. Members may stack workloads between other qualifying colleges.

    A part-time faculty member must qualify each quarter they teach, to maintain eligibility. Once eligible, part-time faculty will be notified of their benefit and retirement options.

    Adjunct faculty accrue one personal leave day per quarter.

    Tuition Reimbursement

    Adjunct faculty working half-time or more may take space-available classes for $5 per quarter with the Tuition Waiver program.
