    Purpose of Role

    Pre-Teaching Assistant Instructor in Behavioral Science Department, Daemen University

    Daemen University is seeking applications for a Pre-Teaching Assistant Instructor position in the
    Behavioral Science Department.


    The purpose of this position is to provide a volunteer in the role of a Teaching Assistant with
    education and training in teaching and instructional skills in the field of behavior analysis. This
    will also allow the individual an opportunity to gain valuable experience in teaching at the
    graduate level in order to obtain future teaching opportunities. This individual will serve in a
    Pre-Teaching Assistant role to a faculty member in the Department of Behavioral Science.


    Pre-TA Activities

    Under the mentorship of the course instructor, the Pre-TA will learn skills that bridge theory and
    online instructional delivery in a practice-based manner, including observing course structure and
    instructor-student interactions. Instructor-student interactions can be synchronous, through
    student support groups, and asynchronous, such as emails that are specific to course learning.


    Responsibility of the Pre-TA

    The Pre-TA may facilitate asynchronous discussion boards, provide targeted feedback on low-stakes
    assignments, and support small-group or individual student engagement through messaging or virtual
    office hours under the supervision of the primary instructor. Additional responsibilities may
    include monitoring student participation, assisting with course organization and content
    accessibility, and engaging in structured reflection (e.g., weekly journals) to analyze effective
    online teaching practices.


    Supervision of the Pre-TA
    The Pre-TA operates under full-time faculty supervision with clearly defined responsibilities
    aligned to course objectives and student needs, with the goal of developing competencies in online
    pedagogy, instructional communication, and learner support while exploring teaching as a
    professional pathway.


    Operational considerations
    Participation requires access to key institutional systems (e.g., the learning management system,
    communication platforms, and grading tools) and adherence to Daemen University's employee
    engagement and compliance requirements.


    Qualifications required: The Pre-TA will have a Masters Degree in Behavior Analysis or related
    field and/or the equivalent coursework (e.g., BCBA qualifying program completion). Board Certified
    Behavior Analyst and Licensed Behavior Analyst in NY or the state in which they practice in good
    standing is preferred. PhD in
