This is a CONTINUOUS recruitment for an applicant POOL to fill part-time/adjunct assignments on an as-needed basis. Position Summary Information

Job Description Summary

The purpose of this position is to provide student supervision, instruction, and maintain appropriate professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community in a clinical setting during patient care.

Minimum Qualifications

Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from an accredited dental school through the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).

Three (3) years of clinical experience in the field.

Current dental licensure or eligible for dental licensure through the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners (TSBDE).

Current nitrous oxide/oxygen inhalation sedation permit.

Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) / Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider certification.

Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Ability to teach and communicate with students of varied multicultural backgrounds.

Knowledge of and commitment to teaching strategies and methods which enhance student success.

Knowledge of a learning college and/or knowledge of learning communities.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience teaching at the secondary or college level.

Job Duty

Demonstrate skill, knowledge, and abilities in the teaching discipline. Maintain a clinical environment that promotes teaching and learning. Make continuous efforts to advance the quality of instruction. Develop and use a variety of teaching methods and materials to assist students who have differing educational and experiential backgrounds in meeting the course outcomes. Advise students throughout clinical hours as needed.

Job Duty

Review, evaluate, recommend, and effectively use student learning materials. Maintain appropriate professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community. Maintain professional standards of competence in the discipline and teaching methodology through professional development in accordance with the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).

Job Duty

Clinical responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to, the following: Provide general student supervision during patient care. Provide authorization for radiographs. Provide radiographic diagnosis and document findings. Provide approval for pit & fissure sealants. Evaluate dental hygiene case presentations. Provide diagnostic and consultative services. Provide assessment and administration of local anesthesia and/or nitrous oxide conscious sedation for appropriate pain management. Provide supervision and/or administer the proper medical emergency treatment to patients that require such emergency services. Maintain and inventory emergency crash cart and medications. Monitor small oxygen tanks. Work as a team with the Clinic Coordinator. Support the Clinic Coordinator and Program Director to help assure effective clinical operation. Comply with clinic policies and procedures stated in the Clinic Manual. Perform other duties as directed by the Clinic Coordinator and the Program Director.
