JOB GOAL:
Kirkwood is seeking an Adjunct, Applied Low Brass (tuba, trombone, euphonium) instructor to join the growing music area, beginning Fall 2026, on the Cedar Rapids Main Campus.
GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
The instructor is responsible for fostering student learning through effective teaching of private music lessons, and working collaboratively with students and ensembles. Teaching responsibilities include teaching applied low brass to music program and transfer students, and facilitating sophomore recitals for students in collaboration with the director of instrumental music. The candidate will have the opportunity to engage collaboratively with both faculty and students in recital and performance preparation. The ideal candidate will have the ability to teach effectively and show evidence of successful studio teaching, preferable at the post-secondary level. This position consists of a varied schedule dependent upon enrollment during the academic year.
Adjunct faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions scheduled intermittently based on institutional need. Adjuncts are not guaranteed work in any semester and are notified of course assignments prior to each term as courses become available.
COMPENSATION:
Applied instructors are compensated $668 per 2 credit lesson (1 hour a week) and $334 per 1 credit lesson (half hour a week) per student.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:
