Job Summary:
We are seeking to employ a medical director to supervise and oversee treatment providers assigned to the Substance Use Treatment Outpatient Program (a.k.a. "BridgeBack") with Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) operated by HealthAlliance. This is a leadership role that supports a culture of recovery-orientated services using a person-centered, harm reduction approach, including Medication for Addiction Treatment ("MAT"), as well as the practice of motivational interviewing techniques. Reporting to the section chief for the WMCHealth Addictions Treatment division, the medical director will collaborate with psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, program manager, nurse manager, and the director of addiction services to ensure the 822 programs are providing high-quality care, following DEA, Joint Commission and OASAS regulations, and are meeting productivity expectations. The medical director provides consultation and supervision to on-site medical staff, including completion of staff performance evaluations and participates in quality assurance, workforce recruiting and development, policy formulation and utilization review activities. In addition to administrative and clinical supervision responsibilities, the medical director will also be responsible for the examination, diagnosis and the treatment of patients, including prescribing MAT and MOUD for opioid use disorder, within the scope of the OTP and BridgeBack programs. This is an employed position through WMC Advanced Physician Services, which is a subsidiary professional corporation of WMCHealth. Benefits are comprehensive and include (minimum work hours apply):
Qualifications: Applicants must be a board-certified physician licensed to practice in the state of New York, with demonstrated clinical and organizational leadership accomplishments in the treatment of alcohol and opioid addiction through a harm reduction, evidence-based care model prioritizing medication assisted treatment. Candidates must also possess an NPI number and active DEA license and have some experience coordinating care for co-morbid medical, mental health and substance use disorders.
Facility Information: Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth) has been a leading provider of comprehensive behavioral health services for the Hudson Valley for more than 90 years. We offer a full spectrum of inpatient, outpatient, community and emergency care for individuals and families. World-renowned medical services provided by Westchester Medical Center, MidHudson Regional Hospital and HealthAlliance Hospital, combined with strong clinical leadership from the Department of Psychiatry at New York Medical College, keep WMCHealth at the forefront of meeting the needs of those affected by mental illness and substance abuse.
HealthAlliance Hospital is the primary 911 receiving hospital for Ulster County, New York and environs, and provides critical medical, mental health and substance abuse services to a largely suburban and rural population from its location in downtown Kingston. Due to high demand for comprehensive behavioral health services in this region, HealthAlliance Hospital works in partnership with the Ulster County Department of Mental Health, WMCHealth's MidHudson Regional Hospital in Dutchess County, as well as other community and government partners, to develop WMCHealth's network of clinical programs in the region as a Center of Excellence in behavioral health services. The OTP and BridgeBack programs operate from a community-based location in Kingston. WMC Advanced Physician Services PC (APS) employs doctors and mid-level clinicians working in WMCHealth's hospital-based and community-based clinical programs including at MidHudson Regional Hospital.
