    Full-Time Position (1.0 FTE)

    SUMMARY: The successful individual will demonstrate the ability to contribute to a dynamic and innovative team working to effectively enhance the educational program within the school and district. This person will be able to structure and adapt physical education programs for students K-12 in a manner that supports IEP goals. Working collaboratively with educators and support staff this position will make adaptations, develop accommodations and modifications and/or develop individual physical education programs for students based on their needs. The educator will positively motivate students to develop appropriate skills and create a safe and orderly learning environment.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in education required
    • Must have or be eligible to obtain prior to start an Alaska teaching certificate with a special education endorsement or adaptive PE endorsement or service provider certificate in physical therapy or occupational therapy or mobility and orientation
    • Knowledge and practical application of behavioral principles, practices, methods and strategies applicable to students with adapted physical education needs.
    • Must be flexible and able to work with colleagues in multiple settings
    • Knowledge of current research in field
    • Ability to maintain confidential and accurate reports, records and files for individual students

    Preferred Requirements:

    • Recent experience teaching adaptive physical education.
    • Understanding of IDEA requirements.
