    The Center for Disability Services offers hope, innovation and achievement to the people we support. For 80 years, we have been one of upstate New York’s largest providers of programs and services for individuals who have disabilities. Many of the innovative programs and vital services that we offer are not available elsewhere. 

    We are searching for an Adapted Physical Education Teacher! This position is located in our Albany, NY location.

    Responsibilities:

    • Develops and implements appropriate lesson plans incorporating interdisciplinary goals/objectives
    • Co-ordinates classroom staff duties in regard to gymnasium activities according to program policies.
    • Maintains a positive and accepting classroom environment for the students.
    • Provides for and monitors the supervision and safety of students at all times.

    Required Qualifications: 

    • Bachelor's Degree in field of Physical Education
    • NYS Initial or professional Certification in the field of Physical Education. 
    • The employee must regularly lift and or move individuals -  may be required to lift 50 pounds independently, up to 150 pounds with assistance of another staff , and use a mechanical lift device as assigned

    Preferred Qualifications:

      Graduate degree (Masters, Doctorate) in the field of Education 
      • Water Safety Instructor Certification
      • Lifeguard Certification
      • CPR Certification
      • Adapted Physical Education Certification

      Compensation Range:

      $61,927.11 - $71,358.14

      For over 75 years, the Center for Disability Services has been one of upstate New York’s largest providers of programs and services for individuals who have disabilities.

      With more than 80 locations throughout 15 counties, we annually provide programs and services to over 12,000 individuals, ranging from infants to senior citizens, and their families. We provide services for over 300 different diagnoses of disabilities included Cerebral Palsy, developmental disabilities, Multiple Sclerosis, Autism Spectrum disorders, epilepsy, spina bifida, TBI and Down syndrome.

      Our wide range of services under a single umbrella allows us to provide a seamless continuum of care as the people we support age or as their needs change. From intensive medical care to residential services, to dental care to mental health, the individuals we support can have it all managed through the Center.
