The Department of Neurology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania is seeking an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) or Physician Assistant (PA-C) to join our growing Neuroscience Advanced Practice Provider (APP) team.
This position provides care for patients on the inpatient Neurology and Stroke services, including med-surg and step-down units, as well as patients requiring emergent stroke evaluation and management.

Position Overview
The Neuroscience APP is an integral member of a highly specialized multidisciplinary team, practicing with a high degree of autonomy in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and coordination of care for patients with acute neurological and cerebrovascular disorders.
APPs collaborate closely with attending physicians, trainees, nurses, therapists, social workers, and case management teams to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities
• Manage acute stroke alerts, stroke consultations, and hospitalized patients with neurological and neurovascular disorders
• Assess, diagnose, treat, and manage complex neurological conditions
• Coordinate multidisciplinary care and provide patient and family education
• Participate in quality improvement, research, and scholarly initiatives
• Educate and mentor nurses, residents, students, and fellow APPs
• Contribute to departmental committees and organizational initiatives
• Perform bedside procedures following competency-based training and credentialing

Schedule
• Full-time position
• Rotating day and night shifts
• Weekend and holiday coverage as required
• Responsibilities include both stroke and inpatient neurology services, as well as stroke consultative service

Minimum Requirements:
• AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Required)
• BLS/CPR, as a healthcare provider as per the American Heart Association (For providers in the ambulatory setting) required.
• PA and/or CRNP licensure (CRNP) required before start date.
• PA and/or CRNP Prescriptive Authority required before start date.
• National Board Certification required before start date.
• Master's Degree or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in Nursing or Master's degree in Physician Assistant studies required before start date.
• New to practice or < 2.5 years encouraged.
• The APP must be reviewed by the Credentials Committee and approved by the Medical Board before start date.
