South Shore Rehabilitation & Skilled Care Center in Rockland is hiring an Activities Director! This is a department head role reporting directly to the facility Administrator. Salaried role with weekly pay up to $35 an hour! South Shore is a 96-bed skilled nursing facility.
As the department director, you plan, organize, develop, and direct the activities department, including programming, staffing, and event scheduling.
Experience & Education: - Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
- Have interest and ability to work with elderly persons and persons with physical, development, and behavorial disorders.
- Have at least one (1) year's experience or training in directing group activity.
- Experience in a supervisory capacity in a health care setting is preferred.
Duties & Responsibilities: - Oversees the activities department, including scheduling events and activities that interest and engage residents.
- Manage the hiring, onboarding, training, and daily tasks of the activities assistants.
- Order supplies.
- Connect with residents to generate programming ideas that tailor to their interests.
- Work with vendors, including performers, to schedule visits to the facility.
- Document and report to the nursing department any unusual or significant findings.
- Encourage residents to take part in activities that stimulate his/her potential, physically, mentally, socially, and spiritually.
- Assist with and follow through on the establishment of resident care goals within the framework of the entire therapeutic team.
- Other duties assigned by administrator and regional support team.
Specific Requirements: - Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
- Must be knowledgeable in the Privacy Rule and ensure all staff comply with facility privacy practices policies and procedures.
- Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level at which they are currently functioning.
- Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing policies and procedures.
- Must be able to relate information concerning a resident's condition.
- Must participate in continuing education and inservice training.
