Colonial is looking to add a dedicated, energetic activities director to their team!!
Position Overview
As the Activity Director, you will be the heart and soul of our life enrichment programs. You will plan, coordinate, and execute a comprehensive calendar of therapeutic, social, physical, and spiritual activities designed to meet the unique needs and cognitive levels of our residents. This role involves directly leading programs, managing a budget, overseeing department assistants and volunteers, and ensuring all state and federal regulatory guidelines are met.
Core Responsibilities
- Program Planning: Develop, publish, and distribute a diverse monthly activities calendar (recreational, educational, spiritual, creative, and physical) that caters to all resident care plans.
- Compliance & Care Plans: Conduct initial and ongoing resident activity assessments. Document attendance, participation milestones, and progress notes within electronic health records (EHR) in compliance with CMS regulations.
- Team Leadership: Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise activity assistants and community volunteers.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with nursing, physical therapy, social services, and dietary departments to align group events and individual room visits with medical care guidelines.
- Event Coordination: Organize special holiday celebrations, community outings, family nights, and coordinate local entertainers.
- Budget Management: Manage the department's monthly budget for materials, decorations, prizes, and external entertainment.
- Community Outreach: Maintain and update the facility’s public activity boards and contribute to social media highlight reels or newsletters.
