Job Description

Lions Gate CCRC is seeking a compassionate, energetic, and dependable Activities Aide to join our Life Enrichment team. This position plays an important role in enhancing the quality of life for our residents by planning and leading engaging activities that promote socialization, physical wellness, cognitive stimulation, emotional well-being, and spiritual fulfillment.

The ideal candidate enjoys working with older adults, is creative, patient, and enthusiastic, and has experience working with individuals living with dementia.

Schedule

  • Up to 2 weekends per month (Saturday & Sunday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM)
  • One evening per week (6:00 PM – 8:00 PM)
  • Additional hours may be available to cover vacations or special events.

     

Essential Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and lead engaging activities for residents in assigned neighborhoods.
  • Assist with campus-wide programs, special events, holiday celebrations, and community outings.
  • Encourage resident participation in both group and one-on-one activities.
  • Provide individualized visits and activities for residents who remain in their rooms due to health concerns or personal preference.
  • Assist with arts and crafts, games, exercise programs, music, educational activities, religious services, entertainment, and recreational events.
  • Prepare activity supplies, equipment, and room setup before scheduled programs.
  • Maintain activity areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
  • Update resident activity boards, calendars, and announcements as directed.
  • Deliver newspapers, mail, packages, and other resident communications in a timely manner.
  • Assist with organizing volunteers and supporting resident outings.
  • Support programming in Safe Haven, our memory care neighborhood, as needed.
  • Document resident participation and complete all required activity documentation accurately and on time.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary care plan meetings and provide input regarding residents' activity goals and participation.
  • Observe and report changes in residents' physical, emotional, or cognitive status to the appropriate team members.
  • Report broken equipment and supply needs to the Director of Activities.
  • Assist with the care of any community therapy pet in accordance with state regulations, including feeding, providing fresh water, walking, or cleaning as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the Life Enrichment Department.

     

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Recreational Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, Gerontology, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with older adults in a senior living, long-term care, rehabilitation, or healthcare setting.
  • Experience working with individuals living with dementia is strongly preferred.
  • Creative, energetic, and compassionate with a genuine desire to enrich the lives of older adults.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Dependable, flexible, and customer service oriented.
  • Ability to lift activity supplies and assist residents as needed.
  • Must maintain and follow the dietary laws required to support a Kosher community.
  • Must successfully complete all required background checks, health screenings, and training requirements.
