Overview: In conjunction with the Resident Events Director, Activity assistant plans, organizes, communicates, and assists to achieve results in providing excellent resident care to meet the needs of each individual so he/she can perform at their highest level of functioning while providing a stimulating environment through daily activity programming. Duties: - Regular, punctual attendance.
- Plan and lead a variety of daily activities, both in group and individual, including arts/crafts; music; physical, recreational games; sensory stimulation; cognitive activities and discussion groups at various scheduled hours.
- Ability to use motivational techniques on residents.
- Completes duty checklist.
- Must be able to push wheelchairs; knowledge to use gait belts; and transfer techniques.
- Operate DVD players, computer technology of Carlyle house internal system, music programming.
- Transporting residents to/from activities.
- Advance preparation for scheduled programs, set up, and clean up following activities.
- Able to follow required safety precautions for loading, unloading, and wheelchair hook up for trolley outings.
- The individual in this position should enjoy working with the elderly in a residential setting.
- Should have a good working knowledge of activity programming for those with cognitive impairment.
- Be Patient, creative, energetic and the ability to be flexible in activity program.
- Be a strong leader, able to orally express self and a self-starter.
Required Education: High school or equivalent
