Description

Job Title: Accounts Receivable/Student Accounts Coordinator

Location: Oakland, CA

Pay Rate: $24.13 per hour, W2

Duration: 3 Month assignment

Work Mode: Onsite

Summary:

  • Provide support in managing student accounts and accounts receivable functions.
  • Ensure accurate financial records and assist students with payment plans and financial aid postings.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor student account balances using the PowerCampus custom aging report.
  • Assist students in setting up payment plans and ensure all available financial aid is posted to their student accounts.
  • Initiate the collection process for delinquent accounts through phone calls, emails, and/or submission to the Bursar.
  • Verify and request disbursement of refunds for student credit balances within the 14-day federal guideline.
  • Prepare student batches, including the upload of refund vouchers and refunds.
  • Prepare and balance daily cash receipts and verify the accuracy of postings.
  • Provide a service-oriented interface between students, parents, and staff for student account information.
  • Communicate complex instructions, account history analysis, and university policies clearly and professionally.
  • Review student accounts for billing accuracy and produce student statements 30 days prior to the term start.
  • Attend student events to explain the tuition process and address questions.
  • Supervise student workers as needed.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a related field or a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution.
  • Proficiency in using personal computers in a networked environment, with knowledge of Windows OS.
  • Extensive knowledge of Excel and word processing software.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise professional judgment.
  • Strong communication skills for heavy phone and email usage.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, theories, and terminologies.
  • Ability to perform and analyze data reconciliation.
  • Capability to organize and complete large-scale projects independently.
  • Ability to collaborate with diverse populations effectively.
  • Occasional overtime may be required.
  • Ability to perform deskwork for 8 hours per day and handle light lifting (10lbs).

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in accounts receivable or related accounting work.
  • Prior experience in higher education.
