Accounts Receivable Specialist

Location: Grand Rapids, MI
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM or 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
Compensation: $45,000 -$55,000
Work Environment: Fully Onsite

Responsibilities

• Process and apply incoming customer payments accurately and timely.
• 
  
• Investigate and resolve unapplied cash transactions through account research and customer communication.
• 
  
• Reconcile cash activity and identify discrepancies to ensure accurate financial records.
• 
  
• Review customer accounts and open invoices to determine proper payment application.
• 
  
• Communicate with customers via email and phone regarding remittances, payment details, and account questions.
• 
  
• Partner with internal Accounts Receivable staff to resolve outstanding payment issues.
• 
  
• Maintain detailed documentation and records related to cash application and account activity.
• 
  
• Support collections and other AR functions as needed.
• 
  
• Utilize ERP software to manage customer accounts, payments, and reconciliations.
• 
  
• Assist with additional accounting and administrative tasks within the department.
• 
  

Qualifications

Required

• 
  
• 1+ years of Accounts Receivable, Cash Application, Collections, or related accounting experience.
• 
  
• Understanding of accounting principles and account reconciliation processes.
• 
  
• Experience researching and resolving payment discrepancies.
• 
  
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• 
  
• Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
• 
  
• Professional written and verbal communication skills.
• 
  
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including basic formulas and data manipulation.
• 
  

Preferred

• 
  
• Experience within construction, service, or project-based industries.
• 
  
• Familiarity with construction billing processes.
• 
  
• Experience working within an ERP system.
•
