Accounts Receivable / Collections Specialist

The ideal candidate will have previous A/R and collections experience, be comfortable spending a significant portion of the day on the phone and have the confidence to work through account and payment issues with customers. This position will focus heavily on accounts receivable and customer collections while also providing support with payments, invoicing, and general accounting-related tasks.

Accounts Receivable / Collections Specialist

Monday–Friday

7:30 AM–4:30 PM

Pay: approximately $24.00–$26.20/hour, depending on experience

 

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Accounts Receivable / Collections Specialist to join a well-established, family-owned company. This position will focus heavily on accounts receivable and customer collections while also providing support with payments, invoicing, and general accounting-related tasks.

The ideal candidate will have previous A/R and collections experience, be comfortable spending a significant portion of the day on the phone and have the confidence to work through account and payment issues with customers. This is a busy environment, so we're looking for someone who is dependable, detail-oriented, and willing to jump in wherever needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Make a high volume of outbound collection calls to customers regarding outstanding balances
• Review customer accounts and research payment or invoice discrepancies
• Communicate professionally with customers to resolve past-due accounts
• Process and post customer payments
• Look up customer accounts and answer payment-related questions
• Assist customers who have questions regarding invoices or payments
• Maintain accurate and detailed A/R and collection records
• Provide general accounting and office support as needed
• Answer phones and assist with customer service responsibilities
• Proactively identify work that needs to be completed during slower periods
• Qualifications 3–5 years of Accounts Receivable and/or collections experience preferred
• Comfortable making a high volume of collection calls
• Strong computer skills and ability to learn company systems
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to research account discrepancies
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Associate degree or related accounting education is a plus, but relevant experience is highly valued
