Position Title: Accounts Payable Supervisor

Location: Glen Allen, VA

Clearance Requirements: None

Pay Rate: $35-45.00/hr D.O.E.

Position Description:

Join our team as an Accounts Payable Supervisor in Glen Allen, VA, supporting a regional financial institution dedicated to providing innovative banking and financial services. This hybrid role offers a dynamic environment to lead and optimize accounts payable operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. You will oversee daily AP activities, implement process improvements, and maintain strong control measures to support scalable growth. Responsibilities:

  • Direct and oversee daily Accounts Payable operations, including timely invoice processing, payments, and general ledger activities.
  • Review and approve all AP transactions, ensuring accuracy in account coding, tax compliance, and discount application.
  • Develop and maintain departmental policies, controls, and procedures to drive operational excellence.
  • Lead the AP team, fostering professional development, cross-training, and teamwork.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and scalability.
  • Manage the 1099 process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Support internal and external audits with comprehensive documentation and responses.
  • Research and resolve accounting issues related to vendor and teammate payments.
  • Assist with onboarding new entities during acquisitions or legal formations.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable banking laws, including BSA/AML policies.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in accounting or equivalent work experience
  • 2+ years of Accounts Payable and accounting experience, preferably in a financial institution
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills
  • Proficiency with automated AP systems; Concur preferred
  • Strong accounting, GL, and invoice processing knowledge
  • Experience with internal controls, audit support, and process improvements
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PC skills, and accounting software
  • Effective communication skills for engaging with vendors and team members

Top Requirements:

  • Banking or financial services experience (strongly preferred)
  • AP experience + leadership + strong accounting/GL knowledge
  • 2+ years Accounts Payable/Accounting experience
  • Leadership/supervisory experience
  • Invoice processing & payment management
  • General ledger (GL) knowledge
  • Excel + AP/accounting systems (Concur preferred)
  • Internal controls & audit support
  • 1099 processing & process improvement experience
