Accounts Payable Specialist

Hamilton, ON | Full-Time Permanent | $55,000-$60,000

Express Employment Professionals is recruiting an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist for a well-established Hamilton company in the safety industry.

This is a great opportunity to join a close-knit organization of approximately 50 employees with a true family feel. The team works hard, has fun and enjoys working together. This is a busy, hands-on Accounts Payable position for someone who is highly organized, accurate and comfortable independently owning their workload.

The Role:

You will manage a high-volume AP desk processing approximately 50–60 invoices per day and 100+ vendors across multiple entities.

Responsibilities include:

• Matching invoices to purchase orders, packing slips and receiving documentation
• Entering and posting invoices accurately into the accounting system
• Managing primarily PO-based invoices and resolving discrepancies
• Processing weekly vendor payments
• Managing monthly payments, remittances and applicable taxes
• Processing EFTs, wires, cheques and other payment methods
• Managing employee expenses, corporate credit cards and gas expenses
• Working with multiple entities and both CAD and USD transactions
• Supporting month-end AP requirements
• Communicating with vendors and internal departments
• Assisting with AP clean-up and resolving outstanding issues

What We’re Looking For

• Minimum 2–3 years of Accounts Payable experience
• College diploma in Accounting, Business or a related field preferred
• Experience in a busy, high-volume AP environment
• Strong understanding of purchase orders and receiving documentation
• Experience with 2-way matching; 3-way matching experience is an asset
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills
• Confident communication and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work independently and maintain a strong pace
• Basic Excel skills
• NetSuite experience is an asset:QuickBooks or comparable accounting software experience will be considered
