Job Details

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Accountant to join their accounting team. This position will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounts payable activities while supporting accurate financial reporting and month-end close.
The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in accounting, hands-on accounts payable experience, and the ability to manage a high volume of transactions while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the full-cycle accounts payable process, including invoice review, coding, approvals, and payment processing
  • Review invoices and supporting documentation for accuracy and proper general ledger coding
  • Process vendor payments through ACH, checks, wires, and other payment methods
  • Reconcile vendor statements and research discrepancies, duplicate invoices, and payment issues
  • Maintain accurate vendor records, including W-9s and other required documentation
  • Assist with new vendor setup and ongoing vendor maintenance
  • Prepare and maintain accounts payable reconciliations and supporting schedules
  • Assist with month-end close, including AP accruals, journal entries, and account reconciliations
  • Respond to vendor inquiries and work with internal departments to resolve invoice and payment issues
  • Monitor outstanding invoices and ensure payments are processed according to established terms
  • Assist with annual 1099 preparation and reporting
  • Maintain organized documentation and appropriate internal controls
  • Support internal and external audit requests related to accounts payable
  • Identify opportunities to improve AP processes, controls, and efficiencies
  • Assist with additional accounting projects and responsibilities as needed

Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Previous accounts payable or general accounting experience required
  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles, including debits, credits, general ledger coding, and account reconciliations
  • Experience working with accounting or ERP systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, sorting, filtering, and basic data analysis
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain a high level of accuracy
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of an accounting team
