Summary:

Under the direction of the Payroll Operations Manager, the Accounting Technician- Payroll is responsible for supporting full-cycle payroll processing for multiple companies within a multi-state, multi-entity environment. This role performs payroll processing, validation, and record maintenance activities to ensure employees are paid accurately and in compliance with company policies and applicable regulations. Payroll specific training will be provided for anyone who has the minimum qualifications.

Responsibilities:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Compile and validate payroll data including hours worked, earnings, taxes, deductions, benefits, and union dues.
  • Prepare payroll input and enter data into payroll systems for multiple companies and states.
  • Review payroll calculations and correct errors to ensure accuracy.
  • Maintain employee payroll records, including tax elections, direct deposit, benefits, and garnishments.
  • Assist in processing payrolls, including off-cycle and manual payments.
  • Support payroll reporting activities including earnings, taxes, and deductions.
  • Assist with preparation of payroll liability payments.
  • Maintain payroll documentation in accordance with company policies.
  • Respond to employee payroll inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Provide support to payroll team members and assist with cross-functional requests.
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Two years of experience in an HR or Finance position such as payroll, collections, accounting, bookkeeping, accounts payable or accounts receivable.)
  • Must be able to articulate Excel experience and give examples.)
  • Successfully pass background and drug screening

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • List of preferred qualifications which include education/experience/certifications/clearances (quantifiable)

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
  • Ability to work with payroll systems and Microsoft Office tools, including Excel.
  • Ability to follow established processes and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee information
