Accounting Technician II

    Position Title: Accounting Technician II

    Term of Employment: Full-Time/12 months

    Reports To: Chief Finance Officer

    Pay Information: NC 06

    General Statement of Job

    Under general supervision, the Accounting Technician II performs moderate-to-complex journey-level technical bookkeeping and fiscal management duties in support of local school administrative operations. The primary purpose of this role is to independently maintain, reconcile, and audit specific financial records, budget codes, and specialized program funds in strict compliance with the North Carolina Uniform Public School Accounting System (NCUPSAS), local board of education policies, and state/federal statutory guidelines.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Follow all rules, policies and procedures of Stanly County Schools, along with state and federal regulations pertaining to school finance.
    • Accurately performs accounting work involving the maintenance and reporting of financial data.
    • Knowledge of how to reconcile bank statements.
    • Support of school bookkeeping practices and staff
    • Maintain Fixed Assets
    • Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Chief Finance Officer

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Strong computer skills (Excel, Work, PowerPoint, etc)
    • Strong communication skills
    • Ability to establish effective working relationships
    • Ability to coordinate, plan, and meet deadlines (multitasker)
    • Ability to work alone or with others.
    • Assist in external and internal audits
    • Physical ability to perform duties and responsibilities

    Minimum Training and Experience

    • Associate's degree in business or equivalent experience.
    • Three years of experience in financial operations of a school system.

    Minimum Qualifications or Standards Required to Perform Essential Job Functions

    • This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force
    • Work regularly requires sitting, speaking, or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel and repetitive motions
    • Work occasionally requires standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling with hands and arms, pushing, or pulling and lifting
    • Work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating machines and observing general surroundings and activities
    • Work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic)
