Summary

The Accounting Supervisor reports to the Finance Manager and oversees daily accounting operations and staff. This role is responsible for supervising a small team, prioritizing workloads, supporting financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with internal policies and GAAP standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise accounting staff, including workload distribution, performance evaluations, and development
• Oversee accounts payable/receivable, general ledger activity, and monthly close processes
• Review invoices, disbursements, bank reconciliations, and financial reports for accuracy and timeliness
• Ensure timely payments for debt obligations, vendors, and payroll-related transactions
• Prepare and review monthly financial statements ahead of board meetings
• Monitor bad debt, implement collection procedures, and recommend process improvements
• Assist with annual budget preparation and financial planning
• Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements
• Serve as primary contact for external audits and coordinate audit requests

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
• 8+ years of accounting experience (GAAP preferred)
• 3+ years of supervisory or management experience
• Experience with AP, payroll, and general ledger in a governmental or fund accounting environment preferred
• Strong communication, organization, and systems skills

Work Environment

• In-person role in a professional office setting
