Accountabilities / Responsibilities:The Accounting Supervisor directs and supervises all activities and personnel in the Cash Accounting department.
- Manage, develop and mentor team to enhance their performance, development and work product including goal setting and performance reviews.
- Assist in the creation/maintenance of an “achievement” team culture—customer-focused, proactive communication and dissemination of information, career/goal development for team, focus on team-building, recognition of team efforts/accomplishments, etc.
- Review cash reconciliations prepared by the team and provide effective feedback as appropriate.
- Address problems with work quality, issues between teammates and other concerns in an effective, timely manner
- Develop, implement and maintain processes and procedures for accurate and timely analysis of financial data, ensuring best practices
- Investigate root cause and communicate reconciliation variances and issues found in balance sheet accounts to upper management on a timely basis
- Effectively analyze data to identify focus areas
- Identify process opportunities and serve as subject matter expert on related projects
- Structure and lead projects
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to align expectations and partner on the delivery of cash reconciliations and resolution of reconciling items.
- Work closely with facility personnel, department leaders and team members, assisting with any accounting/financial questions or needs
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 6+ years experience in a business setting required
- 4+ years of supervisory experience required
- Understanding of accounting principles, including debits/credits, standard account reconciliations
- Requires strong organizational, communication and problem-solving skills
- Express self-motivation and initiative
- Ownership of processes with minimal oversight required while keeping manager informed of issues
- Coach, encourage, motivate teammates
- Ability to interact in a positive manner and to communicate well with all levels of the organization promptly and professionally
- Must be able to handle multiple tasks while setting priorities and working independently
- Knowledge and ability to place a high emphasis and maintain controls surrounding financial reporting as pertains to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Procedures) and SOP (Standard Operating Procedures)
- Proficient in Microsoft: Excel, Outlook, Word
- Ability to successfully liaise with and influence across all levels, including senior management, in a confident manner
- Ability to manage and resolve queries independently and able to demonstrate a logical approach to problem solving
- Ability and willingness to continuously learn on the job while managing multiple priorities/tasks
