Our client, a local government organization, is seeking an Accounting Specialist to join its team. This is a great opportunity for an accounting professional with approximately 2 years of experience who is looking to build a strong foundation across a variety of accounting and financial functions.
The Accounting Specialist will support day-to-day accounting operations, including reconciliations, billing, accounts receivable, financial reporting, budgeting, and audit preparation.

OVERVIEW OF THE ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST ROLE:
- Perform account reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records.
- Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and cash management.
- Support monthly financial reporting and preparation of financial schedules.
- Assist with annual budgeting and external audit preparation.
- Research and resolve accounting discrepancies.
- Provide support with payroll and other administrative accounting functions.
- Assist with special projects and other accounting duties as needed.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST ROLE:
- Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience required.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles.
- Experience with reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or general ledger accounting.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and ability to learn accounting software.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
