Description & Details:

The NDSU Accounting Service Center (ASC) is committed to providing exceptional customer service to supported departments and ensuring compliance with accounting policies and procedures. The Accounting Specialist provides financial service support to multiple departments in the areas of purchasing, accounts payable, reimbursements, and purchasing card administration.

Specific Duties Include:

  • Assist individuals with travel and expense reimbursements
  • Enter accounts payable information into PeopleSoft
  • Act as a purchasing agent on behalf of NDSU departments
  • Purchasing card administration for department cardholders
  • Assist with vendor set-up and a variety of other financial activities
  • Ensure transaction compliance with policy and financial regulations
  • Ensure required supporting documentation is provided
  • Contribute to process improvements and standardization activities
  • Build collaborative relationships with ASC staff and NDSU community
  • Participate in NDSU-sponsored training to develop knowledge and skill-set related to job duties
  • Other duties as assigned

Work Schedule:

Monday thru Friday 8 am to 5 pm (regular school term) and 7:30 am to 4 pm (summer and breaks)

Hiring Range:

$43,000 -$45,000 +/year

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in related field OR
  • 3+ years of direct experience that provides the knowledge, skill, and ability to successfully perform the job duties.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Major Field of Study or Degree Emphasis: Business, Accounting or related field. Actual work experience in a business field can be used in lieu of this degree requirement.
  • 3+ years of directly related experience in purchasing, travel and expense, and accounts payable
  • Experience working in a higher education setting
  • PeopleSoft/Oracle Experience
  • Knowledge of policies and regulations of GAAP and financial related policies, rules and regulations
