Job Description:
- The Accounting Specialist (Contractor) will support the Accounting & Controllership team by performing a variety of general accounting activities to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant financial information.
- This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and solid foundational accounting skills.
- The contractor will work closely with the accounting team to maintain financial records, support month end close, and assist with day to day operational accounting tasks.
Key Responsibilities
General Accounting Responsibilities- Prepare and post journal entries related to revenue adjustments, accruals, reclasses, and corrections.
- Perform account reconciliations for revenue accounts, AR subledger, clearing accounts, and unapplied cash as needed.
- Research variances and ensure all reconciling items are resolved in a timely manner.
- Create, review, and process invoicing documents, credit memo requests, and adjustments in SAP (or applicable ERP system).
- Support month end close processes by compiling data, preparing schedules, and ensuring all transactions are posted within deadlines.
- Assist in maintaining internal controls and ensuring adherence to SOX or compliance requirements.
Operational Excellence & Reporting- Support process improvements to streamline workflows and improve accuracy.
- Participate in cross functional projects or system enhancements as required.
Requirements: - 2-4+ years of experience in general accounting, accounts receivable, or accounts payable (contractor or corporate environment).
- Working knowledge of SAP or other large ERP systems (SAP experience strongly preferred).
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles (debits, credits, accruals, and reconciliations).
- High level of accuracy, accountability, and attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Proficient in Excel and general reporting tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
