Accounting Analyst

Location: Portland, OR (Hybrid - 2-3 days onsite per week)

Pay Rate: $35.97 - $45.87 per hour

Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week

Our client is seeking a Water Accounting Analyst to join its accounting team. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this role will play a key part in monthly close activities, financial reporting, compliance, and accounting operations across multiple business entities. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys collaborating across departments, working in a structured accounting environment, and contributing to process improvements.

Responsibilities

• Support and participate in the monthly close process

• Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations

• Assist multiple business entities with month-end close activities

• Perform intercompany accounting and reconciliations

• Support financial reporting and consolidation processes

• Ensure compliance with internal controls and SOX requirements

• Partner with cross-functional teams across the organization

• Contribute to process improvement initiatives and special projects

• Stay current on accounting standards and technical accounting developments

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required

• 3+ years of accounting experience

• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP

• Experience with month-end close processes

• Proven ability to prepare journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities

• High attention to detail with a strong business mindset

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA designation preferred

• Public accounting experience preferred

• Experience supporting financial reporting and consolidations

• Experience with SOX compliance and internal controls

• Experience using ERP systems, including SAP, QuickBooks, or similar accounting platforms

• Utility industry experience is a plus but not required

Ideal Background

• Staff Accountant, Senior Accountant, or Accounting Analyst experience

• Strong month-end close and general ledger accounting expertise

• Experience managing multiple entities and intercompany transactions

• Comfortable working within a corporate accounting environment

• Collaborative professional who can build relationships across departments

Pay Details: $35.97 to $45.87 per hour
