Job Summary
This position exists to assist in and provide leadership, direction, technical expertise and coordination in accounting functions for the college. A thorough knowledge of the colleges accounting system(s) (Workday and ISRS/Web Accounting) is required as well as the ability to handle complex accounting functions in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), as well as federal, state, and Minnesota State colleges and universities policies and procedures. Provides accounting direction, training, and guidance to business office staff, grant coordinators, and all other college employees. Provide fiscal oversight for all grant activities. Accountable for analyzing, monitoring, reporting, and administering grants which are highly complex and technical in nature. Responsibility extends to determining allowability of expenditures and making recommendations for withholding of funds or other consequences. Work is completed independently under limited supervision. Senior management places a high level of reliance on this position to identify and communicate all fiscal issues of importance.
Minimum Qualifications
This position requires a high degree of technical skills as well as communication, leadership, management, and business skills. An expert knowledge of accounting, financial management and analysis techniques sufficient for strategic business planning, problem identification and resolution are essential.
