OVERVIEWA growing private equity-backed education company is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead and oversee its accounting function during a critical period of organizational growth and transition. Reporting directly to the CFO, this highly visible role will own the general ledger, month-end close, financial reporting, and day-to-day accounting operations while helping build scalable processes and controls for a newly independent business.

RESPONSIBILITIES- Own the general ledger and oversee all day-to-day accounting activities.
- Manage the monthly close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and account analyses.
- Prepare and maintain financial statements and supporting schedules in accordance with GAAP.
- Oversee chart of accounts maintenance, accounting policies, and transaction coding.
- Analyze revenue activity and reconcile data across multiple operational systems.
- Partner with operational teams to support revenue reporting, collections, and financial accuracy.
- Perform reserve, allowance, and collectability analyses related to revenue streams.
- Assist with cash flow reporting, vendor analysis, budgeting support, and financial planning activities.
- Build and enhance accounting processes, controls, and reporting infrastructure as the company continues to scale.
- Support audit readiness and coordinate with external auditors and advisors.
- Collaborate closely with the CFO on financial reporting, operational initiatives, and strategic projects.
- Assist with future system enhancements and accounting process automation initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA strongly preferred.
- 6+ years of accounting experience within public accounting and/or industry accounting roles.
- Public accounting foundation (Big 4 or regional firm audit experience preferred).
- Experience owning the month-end close process, general ledger, and financial reporting functions.
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and corporate accounting principles.
- Experience operating in a lean, entrepreneurial, or high-growth environment preferred.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of the accounting function.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting systems preferred.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to partner with executive leadership.
- Comfortable building processes and infrastructure within a growing organization.
