POSITION DESCRIPTION: 

HES America Ltd is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to join our team. The Accounting Manager will be a key member of the Accounting Department and demonstrate in-depth knowledge of financial accounting and provide innovative solutions for policy and process improvements. The main responsibilities include performing a variety of tasks ranging from routine to complex analysis and playing a critical part in accounting operations, such as managing monthly closing processes, performing various GL accounting functions, owning revenue transaction reviews, conducting technical accounting research, leading process innovation projects, preparing accounting reports, etc. Also, the Accounting Manager will collaborate with the key stakeholders to understand and identify risks associated with current process and system, provide methodologies to optimize operational efficiency and drive improvements and automation where possible 

This position is based out of our offices in Santa Clara and San Francisco, CA, with regular presence required in the San Francisco office, as determined by business needs and the direct manager’s discretion in accordance with the Company policies.   

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Analyze accounting data, including all financial statement line items, and interpret statistical information to identify areas of improvements and make suggestions for improvements 

  • Continuously apply process improvement methodology and mindset to develop and improve policies and procedures, focusing on maximizing efficacy and efficiency in overall accounting operations 

  • Responsible for day-to-day GL accounting functions, including calculation of revenues and deferred revenues, prepaid amortization, application of advanced receipts, etc. for certain divisions under HES America, Ltd.  

  • Manage the month end closing processes for the divisions under your responsibility, including preparing and reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, various accounting reports of financial results, etc. and performing in-depth analysis 

  • Review other staff’s work, including accounting reports, financial analysis, journal entries, reconciliations, etc. 

  • Prepare financial statements in accordance with USGAAP and IFRS 

  • Support quarterly and annual external financial audits/reviews 

  • Responsible for reviewing revenue transactions, including reviewing new revenue contracts, assessing revenue recognition implications, providing accounting guidance to Sales Organization and writing a memo with a conclusion of the accounting treatment 

  • Perform technical accounting research to determine proper accounting treatment for new or complex business transactions  

  • Support managing the Company’s chart of accounts to maintain the most efficient and effective GL lists 

  • Responds to inquiries from management regarding financial results and special reporting requests  

  • Assist in various cross-functional projects and participate in ad-hoc special projects as assigned  

  • Assist other team members’ daily responsibilities as a backup as necessary 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of experience in Accounting (large public company experiences desirable) 

  • CPA and/or big 4 experience preferred 

  • Strong oral, written, and presentation skills and experience in writing accounting memos 

  • Strong working knowledge of key business processes (financial close, order to collect, procure to pay, etc.) 

  • Experience and knowledge of US GAAP and/or IFRS 

  • Ability to exercise good judgement and resolve conflicts with external and internal business partners 

  • Strong project management/organizational and planning skills; ability to manage multiple projects efficiently and prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines 

  • A results-oriented team-player with a self-motivated, proactive, and positive can-do attitude 

  • Exceptional leadership skills with ability to influence others and earn respect of team and business partners 

  • Korean language skill is a plus 

  • Experience in Netsuite or other similar ERP system is a plus 

  • Advanced knowledge of Excel (pivot tables, V-Lookup) 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Solar Industry experience (Renewable)  

COMPENSATION: 

In accordance with applicable pay transparency laws, the anticipated annual base salary for this position is: 

  • Zone 1 (Bay Area, NYC): $132,400 – $156,500  

  • Zone 2 (CA, NJ, NY): $121,300 – $143,400  

  • Zone 3 (All others): $110,300 – $130,400  

The applicable salary range is based on the employee’s primary work location. Individual compensation will be determined based on qualifications, relevant experience, education, skills, internal equity, and other business-related factors.

The salary range is required by the California Pay Transparency Act and may differ depending on the location of those candidates hired nationwide. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to, skill set, education, licenses and certifications, essential job duties and requirements, and the necessary experience relative to the job’s minimum qualifications.
