Summary:
The Staff Accountant at The Tustin Group plays a key role in daily accounting operations, contributing to the overall success of our finance and accounting team. This position focuses on processing day-to-day accounting activities, ensuring timely and accurate transactional records, supporting year-end and other audits, and creating and analyzing financial reports. This role offers growth opportunities for individuals with strong accounting skills, effective time management, and the ability to prioritize competing deadlines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Process daily banking transactions.
• Assist in ensuring an accurate and timely monthly accounting closing process.
• Perform monthly account reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
• Assist with intercompany transactions, expense reimbursement, and payroll.
• Ensure compliance with accounting principles and company policies.
• Provide support during internal and external audits.
• Prepare journal entries for month-end close and regular business operations.
• Work closely with other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and support business operations.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Experience and Skills:
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• 1-3 years of accounting or related field experience preferred.
• Understanding of US GAAP principles.
• Strong computer literacy, including proficiency with Excel and accounting software.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong mathematical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to travel as needed (approximately 5%).
Physical Demands/Working Conditions:
• Work performed primarily in an office environment.
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
• Occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and lift and carry light office supplies up to ten (10) pounds.
• Visual acuity to read and interpret financial documents, spreadsheets, and computer screens.
• Hearing ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and external contacts.
