About the Organization
Our client, a nationally recognized, NFP in DC, is hiring an Accounting Manager to lead its day-to-day accounting operations. This is a great opportunity for a nonprofit accounting leader looking for scale, complexity, and mission-driven work in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statements
- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and review/approve entries and reconciliations prepared by staff
- Oversee AP, grants payable, payroll, and cash management
- Lead the annual financial statement audit as the primary point of contact for external auditors
- Strengthen accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Drive process improvement and system optimization to increase automation and efficiency
- Partner with FP&A on budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning
- Supervise, coach, and develop a small accounting team
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with nonprofit experience strongly preferred
- Prior supervisory experience
- Experience with complex, multi-funding-source accounting operations
- NetSuite/Intacct preferred; other ERP experience considered
