    Accounting Manager

    Independence Construction is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to join our growing construction management organization. This individual will play a key role in the company's accounting and finance functions, including financial reporting, project and job-cost accounting, budgeting and forecasting, internal controls, and process improvement.

    The Accounting Manager will work closely with accounting, project management, operations, and executive leadership while also helping manage and develop members of the accounting team.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes
    • Oversee general ledger activity, account reconciliations, and journal entries
    • Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, and supporting schedules
    • Oversee project accounting and job-cost reporting across the company's project portfolio
    • Partner with project management and operations teams to support accurate and timely project financial reporting
    • Assist with the annual budgeting process and ongoing financial forecasting
    • Maintain and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and financial processes
    • Identify opportunities to improve the accuracy, efficiency, and scalability of accounting operations
    • Support the implementation and optimization of accounting systems and reporting tools
    • Manage, mentor, and develop accounting staff
    • Assist with special projects and other accounting and financial initiatives as needed

    Do you have what it takes?

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required. CPA certification a plus
    • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
    • Public accounting experience preferred, but not required
    • Construction industry or project-based accounting experience preferred, but not required
    • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently meet deadlines
    • Ability to communicate financial information clearly to both accounting and operational personnel
    • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across all levels of an organization, including executive management, project teams, and field personnel
    • Prior experience managing or developing accounting staff preferred
