Job Details

Key Responsibilities

• Trust Compliance & Fiduciary Management: Direct all client trust accounts, security deposit processing, Move-In/Move-Out reconciliations, and fund distributions in strict compliance with state regulatory standards (DRE).
• Reconciliations & Audits: Perform precise monthly three-way reconciliations, oversee year-end regulatory preparations, and serve as the main point of contact for external CPA audits, tax filings, and review boards.
• Owner & Portfolio Financials: Direct monthly owner distribution schedules, deliver transparent financial statements, and support annual HOA budgeting, reserve analysis, and assessment tracking.
• Operational Accounting: Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, vendor disbursements, 1099 issuances, and overall cash flow tracking.
• Process Optimization & System Ownership: Leverage specialized industry software to streamline accounting workflows, maintain banking relationships, establish internal controls, and mentor team members.

Qualifications

• Experience: 4+ years of full-cycle accounting experience, with at least 2 years specifically focused on real estate or property operations.
• Technical Expertise: Hands-on experience managing trust accounts and executing monthly three-way reconciliations.
• Software: High proficiency in property management platforms (e.g., AppFolio or equivalent) and advanced Excel.
• Education & Credentials: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent practical experience. Active Real Estate license or familiar knowledge of California DRE rules is a strong plus.
• Leadership & Traits: Meticulous attention to accuracy, strong deadline adherence, and clear communication skills for translating financial data to key stakeholders.
