Accounting Manager

Position Title: Accounting Manager

Location: Hauppauge, Long Island, NY - On-Site

Industry: Manufacturing & Distribution

A growing and established manufacturing and distribution company in Hauppauge is seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager to lead daily accounting operations and oversee the accounting team. This role requires 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with proven experience leading, mentoring, and developing staff. The ideal candidate will remain hands-on with the accounting while providing leadership across the department.

Core Responsibilities

• Lead and develop accounting staff while remaining hands-on with day-to-day accounting operations

• Oversee AP, AR, general ledger, reconciliations, and journal entries

• Manage month-end and year-end close processes

• Prepare and review financial statements, management reporting, and variance analysis

• Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP

• Support cost accounting and inventory-related accounting

• Coordinate audit preparation and work with external auditors

• Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, and senior leadership

• Support budgeting and forecasting

• Identify and implement accounting process and system improvements

Ideal Candidate

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience

• Proven experience leading, mentoring, and developing accounting staff

• Hands-on Accounting Manager or strong Senior Accountant/Accounting Supervisor ready for the next step

• Strong month-end close, GL, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting experience

• Manufacturing and/or distribution experience strongly preferred

• Cost accounting and inventory accounting experience preferred

• Strong knowledge of GAAP

• Advanced Excel and ERP system experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required

• CPA or CMA is a plus, not required
