Our client is seeking an experienced Accounting Consultant to provide hands-on support with general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, fixed assets, and month-end close. This opportunity is ideal for someone with manager-level accounting experience who enjoys resolving accounting issues, improving processes, and helping a multi-entity organization keep its accounting operations running smoothly. This is a contract opportunity, with potential for conversion to a permanent role based on performance, the quality of work delivered during the assignment, and business needs. This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports.
Primary Responsibilities
Complete outstanding account reconciliations and support ongoing monthly reconciliations across multiple entities.
Investigate reconciling items, resolve discrepancies, and prepare journal entries and supporting documentation.
Support fixed asset and intangible accounting, including additions, disposals, depreciation, amortization, and rollforwards.
Review existing fixed asset processes and recommend improvements to accuracy, efficiency, and documentation.
Support month-end close activities, including treasury, accounts receivable, and accounts payable reconciliations.
Prepare intercompany journal entries and reconcile intercompany balances.
Assist with payroll journal entries and related general ledger reconciliations.
Support lease accounting, including new lease setup and related reconciliations.
Streamline reconciliation procedures and strengthen supporting schedules and documentation.
Prepare accounting schedules and documentation for the annual audit.
Assist with accounting projects and system enhancements.
Requirements
Strong corporate accounting experience at the Accounting Manager level or in a comparable hands-on consulting role.
Extensive experience with general ledger accounting, month-end close, and account reconciliations.
Hands-on fixed asset accounting experience.
Advanced Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, SUMIFS, and complex formulas.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to independently research and resolve accounting discrepancies.
Experience evaluating accounting processes and implementing practical improvements.
Ability to prioritize outstanding work, meet deadlines, and collaborate with the accounting team.
Multi-entity and intercompany accounting experience preferred.
Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains experience preferred.
Lease accounting and ERP implementation experience are a plus.
Availability to work four days in the Dallas office and one day remotely each week.
