Description

Kforce's client in North Bethesda, MA is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager Consultant to provide immediate accounting support during a critical period that includes audit preparation, fiscal year-end activities, month-end close, and accounting process stabilization. This is a hands-on individual contributor role focused on managing accounting processes rather than supervising staff. The ideal candidate will be able to quickly integrate into a complex accounting environment, work independently with minimal direction, and take ownership of key accounting functions. This consultant will support close activities, perform complex reconciliations, validate financial data, prepare journal entries, assist with audit requests, and help improve accounting workflows and reporting accuracy. Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and support month-end and year-end close activities
  • Perform complex account, revenue, cash, and bank reconciliations, identifying and resolving discrepancies
  • Analyze financial activity and validate reporting accuracy across multiple systems
  • Prepare and post journal entries while maintaining general ledger integrity
  • Create supporting schedules and workpapers for financial reporting and audit requirements
  • Support external audits by preparing documentation, responding to auditor requests, and coordinating audit-related activities
  • Review and improve accounting processes to increase efficiency and strengthen internal controls
  • Validate financial data following system implementations, upgrades, or process changes
  • Troubleshoot accounting workflow and integration issues impacting financial reporting
  • Support intercompany and multi-entity accounting activities as needed
  • Partner with finance leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure continuity of accounting operations
  • Document accounting procedures and implement process improvements where appropriate

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience at the Accounting Manager or Senior Accountant level
  • Nonprofit accounting experience, including knowledge of restricted and unrestricted funds, contributions, grants, and donor-related accounting
  • Hands-on Sage Intacct experience, including journal entries, reconciliations, general ledger activity, and financial reporting
  • Strong experience managing month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting processes
  • Experience supporting external audits, including preparation of schedules, documentation, and auditor requests
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage priorities with minimal supervision
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong ERP system experience
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Preferred Qualifications:
  • CPA or CPA-track preferred
  • Experience with ERP implementations, system conversions, or reporting transformations
  • Experience with Bill.com or similar accounts payable automation tools
  • Exposure to Microsoft Dynamics or similar reporting platforms
  • Experience in multi-entity and intercompany accounting environments
  • Prior consulting, interim, or project-based accounting experience

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
