Accounting ManagerA growing technology and SaaS organization is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join its finance and accounting team in South Charlotte. This hands-on role will oversee key accounting activities with a strong focus on SaaS revenue recognition, accounts receivable, multi-state sales tax, month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, and internal controls.
The Accounting Manager will partner closely with senior finance leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting while helping strengthen and scale accounting processes as the business continues to grow.
The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting skills, hands-on NetSuite experience, and experience within a SaaS, technology, subscription-based, or recurring-revenue business.
Responsibilities- Own key areas of the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close, including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and financial reporting.
- Oversee SaaS revenue recognition in accordance with U.S. GAAP, including recurring subscription, implementation, professional services, and other applicable revenue streams.
- Review customer contracts and billing arrangements to determine appropriate accounting treatment and maintain accurate deferred revenue, unbilled revenue, and accounts receivable balances.
- Partner with Sales and Operations to resolve revenue, billing, and customer account discrepancies and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Manage multi-state sales tax compliance, including nexus considerations, registrations, filings, remittances, exemptions, reconciliations, and coordination with external tax advisors.
- Oversee customer billing, cash receipts, banking activity, AR aging, and related account reconciliations.
- Maintain and strengthen accounting policies, internal controls, and documentation in accordance with U.S. GAAP and company requirements.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve the efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of accounting processes and systems.
- Partner cross-functionally and with senior finance leadership on accounting matters and initiatives supporting continued business growth.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Progressive accounting experience with strong hands-on experience across general ledger accounting, month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and financial reporting.
- Hands-on NetSuite experience required.
- Experience within a SaaS, technology, subscription-based, or recurring-revenue environment strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and revenue recognition, including experience with recurring and deferred revenue.
- Experience with accounts receivable, customer billing, and revenue-related balance sheet reconciliations.
- Multi-state sales tax experience strongly preferred, including exposure to nexus, filings, remittances, and compliance requirements.
- Strong Excel and financial systems skills with the ability to analyze data, research discrepancies, and drive issues through resolution.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a growing, hands-on environment.
- Demonstrated ability to partner effectively across Finance, Sales, Operations, and other business functions.
