Remote Position
About the Role
We're a growing B2B SaaS company looking for an Accounting Manager to own our accounting function end-to-end. This is a hands-on role: you'll run the monthly close, own revenue recognition and collections, and, importantly, help us build a modern, automation-first accounting operation. We expect this person to use AI tools daily and help us figure out where AI agents fit into the close process. If you're the kind of accountant who gets annoyed by manual work and instinctively looks for a way to eliminate it, you'll like it here.
What You'll Own
- Monthly close. Run the full close calendar end-to-end (journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and flux review) with a goal of continuously shortening close time.
- Revenue recognition. Own deferred revenue schedules and ASC 606 compliance for our subscription revenue, including upgrades, downgrades, and multi-year contracts.
- Billing and collections. Manage invoicing, AR aging, and collections outreach. Build a repeatable collections process (and automate as much of it as possible).
- Accounts payable and spend. Oversee AP, expense management, and vendor payments.
- Audit and tax. Serve as the primary point of contact for our external accountants, tax preparers, and any audit or diligence processes.
- Process and systems. Evaluate, implement, and improve our finance tech stack. Identify where AI tools and agents can eliminate manual work, and lead those implementations.
What We're Looking For
- 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years at a software or SaaS company
- Strong command of the monthly close process; you've owned a close, not just contributed to one
- Track record of automating or eliminating manual processes: tool migrations, system implementations, or workflow automation you personally drove
- Genuine curiosity about AI tools; you've already experimented with them in your work and have opinions about where they help and where they don't
- Experience with common SaaS finance tools (e.g., QuickBooks or Sage Intacct, Ramp/Bill, Stripe or a billing platform, close management software)
- Hands-on experience booking deferred revenue and applying ASC 606: you've built and maintained rev rec schedules yourself, not just reviewed them
- Strong Excel/spreadsheet skills
- CPA or CPA track a plus, but not required
What Success Looks Like
- 90 days: You own the close independently and have documented the full close checklist.
- 6 months: Close time is shorter than when you started, collections are running on a consistent cadence, and you've shipped at least one meaningful automation.
- 12 months: The accounting function runs reliably with minimal escalation, our financials are diligence-ready, and we have a clear roadmap for where AI agents take over repetitive work.
Why This Role
You'll have real ownership and a direct line to leadership, with no layers between you and decisions. And you'll get to build the kind of AI-augmented accounting function most companies are only talking about.
