Job Description
The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring the accuracy of financial data, maintaining internal controls, and leading the monthly close process. This role also provides strategic oversight of financial reporting, develops and implements accounting policies and procedures, and plays a key role in mentoring the accounting team.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance and transaction review
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation and analysis of financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Lead and manage month-end and year-end close processes
- Review and prepare journal entries and account reconciliations
- Maintain and reconcile fixed asset schedules
- Ensure compliance with internal accounting policies and external reporting standards
- Evaluate internal controls and conduct risk assessments across key accounting areas
- Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff, including performance evaluations and feedback
- Collaborate with cross-functional departments to support business operations and reporting needs
- Develop and refine accounting policies, processes, and systems to increase efficiency and accuracy
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 5-7 years of progressive experience in accounting roles
- Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and accounting operations
- Proven leadership and team management experience
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
- CPA or CMA certification
- Experience in a multi-entity or high-growth environment
- Familiarity with ERP systems and fixed asset accounting

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco by Highspring believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
