About the Opportunity

A growing development company is seeking an experienced, hands-on Accounting Manager to take ownership of the company’s accounting function. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a smaller, entrepreneurial environment where they can make an impact, work closely with leadership, and have visibility across the business.

The Accounting Manager will oversee the day-to-day accounting operations while remaining highly hands-on with the work. This person will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing the accounting cycle, supporting financial reporting, and helping ensure the accounting function operates efficiently as the company continues to grow.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and oversee the day-to-day accounting function
• 
  
• Manage the full accounting cycle, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and month-end close
• 
  
• Prepare and review monthly financial statements and management reports
• 
  
• Perform account reconciliations and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data
• 
  
• Manage cash activity, banking, and account reconciliations
• 
  
• Oversee invoicing, bill payments, collections, and other accounting transactions
• 
  
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
• 
  
• Maintain accurate project-related accounting and financial records
• 
  
• Work closely with company leadership to provide financial information and reporting
• 
  
• Ensure appropriate accounting procedures, controls, and processes are in place
• 
  
• Coordinate with outside CPA firms, vendors, and other financial professionals as needed
• 
  
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, and efficiency
• 
  
• Provide guidance and oversight to the accounting team while remaining willing to roll up your sleeves and handle the details
• 
  
• Support special projects and other financial initiatives as the business evolves
• 
  

Ideal Candidate

• 
  
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• 
  
• Experience working in a hands-on Accounting Manager, Controller, or similar role
• 
  
• Strong understanding of the full accounting cycle
• 
  
• Experience in construction, real estate development, or a related industry preferred
• 
  
• Comfortable working in a smaller company where the Accounting Manager is deeply involved in the day-to-day accounting
• 
  
• Strong Excel and accounting systems experience
• 
  
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail
• 
  
• Able to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines
• 
  
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with ownership and leadership
• 
  
• Self-directed, resourceful, and comfortable taking ownership
• 
  
• Collaborative leadership style with a willingness to jump in and do the work
•
