Accounting Clerk

The Accounting Clerk reports to the Account Payable Supervisor and is part of a dynamic GOVCON accounting team that values cross-training and growth. The Accounting Clerk is responsible for performing MELE's day-to-day accounting clerk function independently taking ownership of the position. Working within Deltek Costpoint with an emphasis on complex PO Vendor Labor Vouchering, extreme attention to detail is necessary to manage accurate coding. The ideal candidate will be able to multi-task and possess the ability to handle a fast-paced environment with changing priorities. A strong commitment to follow-through is required to be successful in this position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Perform day-to-day operations of the Accounting Clerk function
• Receive payable invoices, review for accuracy, prepare and submit invoices for approval
• Manage the e-signature and approval system ensuring all payable invoices are approved and downloaded for system entry timely
• Enter project-based purchase orders, and non-PO invoice vouchers in Costpoint.
• Track prepaid travel expenses and travel advances in accordance with company travel policy.
• Enter subcontractor employee travel expenses and Other Direct Costs (ODCs) into Costpoint.
• Respond to client, vendor, and employee inquiries with exceptional customer service
• Diligently maintain the integrity of the electronic accounting archives
• Support the accounting team with account reconciliations and resolution of discrepancies.
• Perform other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Associates in Accounting or two years relevant experience
• 2 years accounting experience
• Strong analytical, problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail
• Working knowledge of Adobe Pro, Microsoft Outlook, and Excel
• Extensive attention to detail and organization in physical and digital environments
• Ability to handle a fast-paced environment and often changing priorities
• Strong commitment to seeing a task through to completion
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Customer service-driven attitude

LOCATION: This position is full-time and hybrid in Rockville, MD.

SALARY: Salaries are determined based on several factors including external market data, internal equity, and the candidate's related knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position. The range for this position is 48k-50k.
