The Monument Companies is seeking an Accounting Associate to support our accounting team in a fast-paced real estate and construction environment.

This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in Accounts Payable, bank reconciliations, and core accounting functions. In addition to daily accounting responsibilities, this position will support the use of technology and AI tools to improve efficiency and streamline processes.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable & Bank Reconciliations:

  • Enter and code invoices in Yardi, ensuring proper GL coding, approvals, and timely processing
  • Assist with and process weekly check runs, ACH payments, and electronic transfers
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
  • Maintain accurate AP records and support annual 1099 reporting
  • Collect and maintain W-9s and insurance certificates to support compliance
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations for assigned accounts
  • Monitor AP aging reports and follow up on outstanding items
  • Support month-end close, including reconciling the AP subledger to the general ledger and preparing reports
  • Assist with additional accounting and administrative tasks as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred, but not required
  • 0-2 years of accounting or related experience preferred
  • Strong Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook skills
  • Yardi or similar accounting software experience is a plus
  • Interest in technology and process improvement
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Reliable transportation
